Since the dentistry techniques that we use at Kentuckiana Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates are progressive, your teeth are much more likely to last your whole life long. Sometimes, however, no matter how well you take care of them, teeth eventually deteriorate and fall out of your mouth. If this happens, you don’t have to worry – our office can provide you with full arch replacement dentures that can permanently restore your smile and eating and speaking abilities to full capacity once again.

Implant-supported dentures employ dental implants as anchors for sets of teeth. What are dental implants? Dental implants are bars of titanium that are implanted into the jaw. The metal piece ends at the top of the gumline where it is attached to sturdy prosthetic teeth called crowns.

There are two types of implant-supported dentures – bar-retained dentures and ball-retained dentures:

Bar-retained dentures: A metal bar trails the curve of the jaw. The bar is connected to all dental implants along your arch, which are fit to the bar and secured with clips.

Ball-retained dentures: Each dental implant has ball-shaped attachments. The balls are implanted into the dentures and securely hold them permanently in place.

The remarkable thing about these dentures is that each implant is customized to your mouth and looks and feels completely natural. To explore the possibility that you may need dentures, just book an appointment with our practice in Louisville, Kentucky, by calling 502-587-7874.
